PetCheck Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

PetCheck ("the app", "we", "us") is a mobile app that helps pet owners check whether a food or plant may be safe for their dog or cat. The app is operated by Pranay Singh in Australia. Contact us at support@safebite.pet.

This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.

1. Information the app handles

Photos you scan. A photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and then to Anthropic, an artificial intelligence service, to produce a result. We do not save the photo on our server.

Your pet. The app stores the type of animal you chose and, if entered, your pet's name and weight on your device. The animal type is sent with each scan. For the "How much did they eat?" check, the item, weight and amount are sent to our server and Anthropic to produce an estimate. Your pet's name is not sent.

Anonymous usage statistics. Usage statistics are enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings under "Share anonymous usage stats". Events include app opens, scan results (including the item and verdict), paywall views, purchases and support actions. Events are associated with a random device identifier. Cloudflare derives a country code from the network request; raw IP addresses are not stored in the analytics database. We do not send your name, pet's name, pet's weight or photos with analytics events.

A random device identifier. The app creates a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email or phone number. It is used to count free scans, check subscriptions and distinguish devices in anonymous usage statistics. It is stored on your device, in our scan counter and, for analytics events, in a Cloudflare D1 database. Analytics data is retained while we use the statistics service and can be deleted on request.

Scan history. Recent scan results are saved on your device and are not uploaded as scan history. Deleting the app deletes this history.

Purchases. Apple handles iOS purchases. RevenueCat checks whether your subscription is active and receives an anonymous app user identifier and purchase receipt information. We do not receive or store payment card details or your Apple ID.

Camera. Camera permission is used to take photos to scan. You can turn it off in your device settings.

2. Information we do not collect

3. How we use information

4. Who we share information with

These providers process information under their own privacy and security terms. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

5. How long we keep information

Photos are not stored by us after the result is produced. Scan history stays on your device until you delete it or the app. The random identifier and scan count are kept while needed to provide the service. Analytics events are kept in Cloudflare D1 while we use the statistics service and can be deleted on request.

6. Your choices and rights

You can turn off usage statistics in Settings or delete the app to remove its on-device data. You can cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings. To request deletion of analytics data associated with your random device identifier, or to ask what information we hold, email support@safebite.pet. You may also have rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 or the privacy laws where you live.

7. Children

PetCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections and reputable providers to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. Not veterinary advice

PetCheck provides general information only. Results may be wrong and are not a substitute for professional veterinary advice. If your pet may have eaten something harmful, contact a veterinarian or animal poison helpline straight away.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time and will change the date above. Questions about this policy or your information: support@safebite.pet.
